Yoon Seok Kim

Yoon earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Stanford University, where he conducted his graduate research under the mentorship of Drs. Karl Deisseroth and Brian Kobilka. His doctoral work focused on uncovering the structural and molecular mechanisms underlying light-gated ion channels. As a postdoctoral researcher in the Deisseroth lab, he is now investigating the structural and mechanistic basis of light-gated channels that selectively conduct monovalent cations such as sodium and potassium.
